Wake Only Scoring

The Following Applies to the Wake Only Two Pass Events

Mini Outlaw: This division is for riders who are 9 years old or younger on December 31 of the previous year.

Tricks up to but not including class 2 will be permitted with the stated exceptions. One wake to wake 180 (ungrabbed) will be permitted per pass. Tricks may be repeated, but not in the same pass. Riders with multiple (more than 1) wake to wake 180s and/or wake to wake grabs should be riding in the intermediate class. The rider will be scored on the first 6 tricks completed in each pass. Style points will be awarded according to a highly objective set of criteria, which will be available for review at the events. The style score is intended to count for about 25% of a good Novice trick score. See the head judge for more information.

Jr. Novice: This division is for riders who are 12 years old or younger on December 31 of the previous year.

Novice: No age limit.

Tricks up to but not including class 2 will be permitted with the stated exceptions. One wake to wake 180 (ungrabbed) will be permitted per pass. Tricks may be repeated, but not in the same pass. Riders with multiple (more than 1) wake to wake 180s and/or wake to wake grabs should be riding in the intermediate class. The rider will be scored on the first six tricks completed in each pass. Style points will be awarded according to a highly objective set of criteria, which will be available for review at the events. Women’s Intermediate: No age limit.

Tricks up to but not including class 4 will be permitted with the stated exceptions. One and only one invert and one and only one spin will be permitted. Inverts and spins may not be grabbed in the intermediate division. Riders with multiple spins and inverts should be riding in a higher division. Tricks may be repeated (excluding inverts and spins), but not in the same pass. The rider will be scored on the first 6 tricks completed in each pass excluding setup tricks. Credit will be given for setup tricks only if the rider fails to complete 6 wake to wake tricks. Style points will be awarded according to a highly objective set of criteria, which will be available for review at the events. The style score is intended to count for about 25% of a good Intermediate trick score. See the head judge for more information.

Men’s Intermediate: No age limit.

Masters: This division is for riders who are 30 years old or older on January 1 of the current year.

Advanced: No age limit.

Tricks up to but not including class 5 will be permitted. The rider may perform up to a total of 4 inverts. There is no limit on spins. Tricks may be repeated, but not in the same pass. The rider will be scored on the first 5 tricks completed in each pass excluding setup tricks. Credit will be given for setup tricks only if the rider fails to complete 5 wake to wake tricks. Style points will be awarded according to a highly objective set of criteria, which will be available for review at the events. The style score is intended to count for about 25% of a good Advanced trick score. See the head judge for more information.

Expert: No age limit.

Tricks up to but not including class 6 will be permitted with the stated exception. One and only one class 6 trick will be permitted. The rider may perform up to a total of 6 inverts. There is no limit on spins. Tricks may not be repeated. The rider will be scored on the first 5 tricks completed in each pass excluding setup tricks. Credit will be given for setup tricks only if the rider fails to complete 5 wake to wake tricks. Style points will be awarded according to a highly objective set of criteria, which will be available for review at the events. The style score is intended to count for about 25% of a good Expert trick score. See the head judge for more information.

Masters Open: This division is for riders who are 30 years old or older on January 1 of the current year.

Riders in the open divisions may perform any trick on the trick list. Tricks may not be repeated. The rider will be scored on the first 5 tricks completed in each pass excluding setup tricks. Credit will be given for setup tricks only if the rider fails to complete 5 wake to wake tricks. Style points will be awarded according to a highly objective set of criteria, which will be available for review at the events. The style score is intended to count for about 25% of a good Open trick score. See the head judge for more information.

Men’s Open: No age limit

General Rules- The following rules also apply:

1.There is a 4 trick variation rule. Only the first four variations of any trick will be counted. For example: A rider does 5 indy grabs. The fifth Indy grab will not be counted, even if all five are on different tricks. If the loss of the Indy grab makes the trick a duplicate, the trick may not be counted depending on the rules of the division.

2.No more than 4 Heelside Raley based tricks total will be counted for points in any run.

3.Setup tricks will be counted if needed, but in the upper divisions, (Advanced and up) no credit will be given for any trick under 14 points. This means that the only setup tricks that will count in these divisions will be a powerslide to blind and an ollie backside 180. Also, to get credit for a powerslide, the rider must cut out heelside and break the board loose and hold the backside slide for 2 seconds. If this is done at the end of a pass, the board must break loose before the buoy. The slide may continue after the buoy.

4.The first trick in each pass may be initiated before the buoy, but it must be landed

after the buoy. The last trick in each pass must be initiated before the buoy, but may be landed after the buoy. For wake tricks, this means that the rider must hit the wake before or at the buoy. The consensus of the judges will be the final ruling on this matter. The judges may at their discretion elect to use the final buoy only as a guideline, and allow riders to within reason ignore the buoy. This will be widely announced before the division begins and will apply to all riders equally.

5. Divisions may be added or deleted at the discretion of the organizers, and these decisions will be made based on whether or not there enough riders in a division to make that division feasible. If you have a request for a specific division, please bring it to the attention of the organizers.

Scores may be appealed at the time they are announced or posted. Scoresheets will be available for review. See the head judge. It is absolutely a priority that the judging be done fairly with no favoritism whatsoever. If you have any concerns please bring them to the head judge or an event organizer. It is our intention to be extremely open and up front in every aspect of the scoring. We don’t want anybody to leave an event thinking that they were wronged in any way.
